Liposuction

Today, liposuction represents an elegant and gentle method of removing local fat accumulation in a lasting and well-directed way.

Liposuction should never be a means of loosing weight. In our understanding it is an extraordinary method of shaping the body.

Owing to the use of very small cannulas (diameter of 2 to 4 mm), surface depression is only very rarely a problem.

Liposuction can be carried out in various regions of the body (hips, abdomen, thighs, lower legs, upper arms, chin and throat area a.s.o.).

The surgery will be performed using the tumescent technique, i.e., a mixture out of physiologic saline, local anaesthetics and adrenaline will be infiltrated pre-operatively into the region where liposuction is intended to be performed. The actual drawing off will only be carried out after a waiting period. No more than a volume of 2 to 3 litres will be drawn off during one session. Where it is necessary, a second session will be taken into consideration, not least owing to safety reasons.

Generally, the surgery can be performed out-patient using twilight anaesthesia. Post-operatively it is necessary to wear a compression bandage for approximately 4 weeks.

Breast Augmentation

Normally, breast augmentation is carried out with the aid of implants.

Owing to the defects that can arise during the extraction and the expanded scars that might occur, the use of autotissue for breast augmentation can only be an appropriate way of action in special individual cases or in connection with reconstruction after a mammary carcinoma.

The implant will be inserted through a small cut in the skin either underneath the breast, at the edge of the papilla of the breast or in the armpit. The implant can be located either above or underneath the thoracic muscles. The choice of the location strongly depends on the individual conditions.

The surgery will be carried out under general anaesthesia and hospitalisation for 1 to 2 days is necessary unless the patient lives close enough to the clinic to attend the daily checks from home. Under these circumstances the surgery can also be performed out-patient.

Breast Reduction

A large mammary gland (macromastia) appears mostly during juvenile age and should then be corrected operatively. Macromastia can lead to psychological problems such as uncertainty and inferiority feelings, but also organic alterations can appear in connection with a macromastia (e.g., tense muscles at the back, faulty posture, local inflammation).

A clear distinction between an aesthetic and a medical indication is difficult, but in case of extraction quantities of 400 g per breast health insurance companies accept a medical indication and take over the costs.

As a rule, breast reduction is carried out under general anaesthesia and various techniques are applied. The surgery includes the removal of skin and parts of the mammary gland. A post-operative hospitalisation is required for 1 to 2 days.

In contrary to breast reduction, no mammary gland tissue will be removed in case of pure liftoperations. The techniques of accessing the area for operation are similar to those chosen for a reduction surgery. The mammary gland will simply be fixed at a higher position and the covering skin will be removed as necessary.

Face Lift

In case of face / throat lifting, sliding flaps of cheeks and throat will be applied together with incisions at the hair lines and around the ears. Nowadays, skin and SMAS are prepared and lifted separately. A simultaneous liposuction at the lower jaw / throat area is often carried out. Also a face lift is often combined with a blepharoplasty.

The surgery is performed under local anaesthesia with accompanying twilight anaesthesia. It is important to quit smoking for a couple of weeks prior to surgery in order to minimise the risk of necrosis of the skin.

The surgery requires hospitalisation for 1 to 2 days.

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is a frequently performed aesthetic-surgical operation. The reason for its popularity is that it leads to a significant but not conspicious rejuvenescense while the strain the patient has to cope with is relatively low.

Depending on the age, variations at the eye lid lead to a surplus of skin. Dividing layers of tissue go limp and lead to subcutaneous fat that gets visible (at the lower eye it is the so called "lachrymal sacs"). The musculature at the superficial area of the eyes goes limp and advances a tired and unattractive facial expression.

Various correction techniques are available; which one will be applied is to be decided on a case-by- case basis. Generally, the surgery is performed out-patient under local anaesthesia (with accompanying twilight anaesthesia).

Rhinoplasty

The nose, as a central organ located in the face, can be altered in many ways with regard to its shape and appearance.

Principally, parts of nasal cartilage will be removed or inserted, at the dorsum of the nose it is also possible to level down parts of the bone. Generally, the surgery is performed from within the nose.

The surgery takes place out-patient with twilight anaesthesia or general anaesthesia.

Otoplasty

The surgery takes place out-patient with local anaesthesia (accompanied by twilight anaesthesia). Depending on the deformity of the ear various surgery procedures can be applied.

Generally, a weakly developed antihelix fold leads to deformity of the ear. It will be brought into the right position by weakening the cartilage and fixing it by stiching up. Besides that, a concharotation is frequently carried out.

For a couple of days it is necessary to wear a head bandage. The surgery provides a lasting result.

Wrinkle Treatment / Lip Enhancement

Depending on the location, various methods for correcting the formation of wrinkles are at hand. Skin wrinkles appear when the dermis is thinning out. An improvement is only achievable with injections or lifting. Following is a list of various possible procedures:

  • Autofat
  • Implantation of strips of fat from the dermis
  • Collagen
  • Artecoll
  • Dermalife
  • Hyaluronic acid

Which Ne Auf These procedures will be applied, is to be decided on a case-by-case basis. Besides the location, the condition of the skin and the depth of the wrinkles is also a decicive factor. Some of these procedures can also be applied for lip enhancements.

Abdominoplasty

Generally, abdominoplasty is an aesthetic indication, during which an excision of the surplus of skin / soft tissue mantle is carried out in cases where the skin is going limp. The formation of abdominal aprons can also go along with this condition. The surplus of skin at the epigastrium must be large enough to allow this part to be pulled down to the edge of the pubic region. The scar will be positioned in a way so that the patient can hide it underneath her / his preferred swimming costumes. The navel will be newly implanted at an appropriate spot. Generally, the surgery will be combined with a liposuction at the flanks. In case of a minor lower laparectomy, the skin will only be mobilised up to where the navel is and the resulting surplus of skin will be removed.

Each procedure requires general anaesthesia and hospitalisation for 1 to 3 days.

Other Liftoperations

Basically, these are operations at the thighs / in the area of the hips or at the upper arms. A lasting result is achieved by excision of a surplus of skin and a fixing of the fat fascia in the depths. Unfortunately, extended scars must be accepted with these surgeries.

These operations require general anaesthesia and hospitalisation for 1 to 2 days.

Correction of Scars

During this surgery, disturbing scars will be cut out and re-closed by using a fine suture technique. In cases where the scars run unfavourably, this run must be altered in order to get an improvement of the aesthetic results. This may be achieved by using for example a Z-flap.

The operations will be carried out nearly exclusively out-patient using local anaesthesia.

Autohair Transplantation

Despite various procedures for implantation (hollow drill, slit technique, laser), modern hair surgery ows its actual progress to the preparation of miniature transplants.

A strip of skin in the shape of an ellipse will be taken from the hairy back of the head. Its size is roughly as large as the amount of transplants needed for the receiving area. After a careful occlusion, the area of extraction is later hardly visible.

The strip of skin will be divided into miniature transplants. These will then be implanted into the scalp via miniature incisions according to the direction of hair growth.

The surgery will be performed out-patient under local anaesthesia. Physiologic saline and adrenaline will be injected into the areas where the operation will be performed in order to minimise the bleeding.

The main indication area is androgenetic hair loss.
